RabbitMQ on Mac OS X


Step 1

Download the latest Mac OS X package and install Erlang.

Step 2

Download RabbitMQ from : https://www.rabbitmq.com/releases/rabbitmq-server/v2.8.7/rabbitmq-server-generic-unix-2.8.7.tar.gz

Step 3

Unpackage it with :

tar -xzvf rabbitmq-server-generic-unix-2.8.7.tar.gz

Step 4

rabbitmq_server-2.8.7/sbin/rabbitmq-plugins enable rabbitmq_management

Step 5

Start the Server :

$ rabbitmq_server-2.8.7/sbin/rabbitmq-server -detached

Step 6

Stop the Server:

$ rabbitmq_server-2.8.7/sbin/rabbitmqctl stop

Step 7

To access management console. Go to http://localhost:55672/mgmt/. User name and password is guest, guest.


Setup alias in your ~/.bash_profile to stop and start the server:

alias mq='/Users/zepho/Downloads/rabbitmq_server-2.8.7/sbin/rabbitmq-server -detached'
alias mqd='/Users/zepho/Downloads/rabbitmq_server-2.8.7/sbin/rabbitmqctl stop'
